The Yenagoa Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has commended the Prosperity Government of Senator Douye Diri for its extensive infrastructural development efforts benefiting the people of Bayelsa State.

The Society of Engineers expressed their appreciation to the state government during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure at his office in Yenagoa on Tuesday, 22 April 2025.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Yenagoa Branch of the NSE, Engr Jonah Edoghotu, highlighted that the Diri-led administration is setting a benchmark for rapid development in the state through numerous legacy projects.

He also praised the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure for effectively translating the Governor’s vision for the infrastructure sector into tangible results.

Engr Edoghotu further expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for his support and appealed for continued collaboration.

Additionally, a former commissioner in the Ministry, Engr Emmanuel Frank-Opigo, reiterated the significant strides made by the government. He noted that projects like the 25,000-capacity stadium had been a long-standing aspiration of previous administrations but had never materialized. He commended Governor Diri for taking bold steps to bring such projects to fruition.

In response, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, ESV Moses Teibowei, thanked the NSE for recognizing the government’s efforts. He assured them that he would relay their message to the Governor, emphasizing that the achievements were a result of the Governor’s visionary leadership and the commitment of the Assured Prosperity Government.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the government’s dedication to completing all projects on schedule. He disclosed that 30% mobilization had already been paid for the stadium and the nine-story secretariat building, with work underway. He added that an additional 20% payment was ready for the secretariat building to prevent delays and ensure timely delivery.

ESV Teibowei also announced that both the bridge and road to Oporoma would be completed this year. He revealed that contracts had been awarded for clearing and sand-filling the Ekeremor-Agge Road up to Ndoro Community.

These projects are in addition to others such as the Nembe-Brass Road, Glory Drive Phase 3, roads in the New Yenagoa City GRA, and numerous other developments across the state.

The Commissioner emphasized that the Assured Prosperity Government is working diligently to set a high standard for future administrations to surpass, ensuring the state’s rapid development.

He also assured the Nigerian Society of Engineers of continued collaboration in advancing infrastructure in the state and encouraged them to establish partnerships that would enable them to compete for contracts.
