In a significant engineering milestone, the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) has successfully launched the first precast beam on the Angiama-Oporoma Bridge—signaling the beginning of beam deployment across the remaining spans of the structure. This development follows the completion of in situ casting of the bridge’s longest spans.

The launch event was closely monitored by key officials from the Bayelsa State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, including the Honourable Commissioner, ESV Moses Teibowei, the Permanent Secretary Mr. Raymond Angaye, and the Director of Civil Engineering, Engr. Apurumelala Cliff-Eribo.

Addressing the media after the beam launch, Commissioner Teibowei affirmed that progress on the bridge is firmly on track. He announced that, with the successful placement of the first beam, vehicular movement between Otuan and Oporoma communities is anticipated by December—marking a major stride toward regional connectivity and economic integration.

He further lauded the Prosperity Government under Senator Douye Diri, noting that the launch underscores Governor Diri’s steadfast commitment to infrastructure development. “This is not just a bridge—it’s a symbol of progress and promise. The people of Bayelsa can be assured that this administration will continue delivering,” Teibowei stated.

The Commissioner also praised the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Bayelsa State Command, for their continued partnership, emphasizing that the Sports Council will sustain collaboration to strengthen community development efforts.

With each engineering milestone, the Angiama-Oporoma Bridge emerges not only as a physical connector but also as a beacon of development, reflecting Bayelsa State’s vision of improved access, enhanced mobility, and prosperity for all.
