Qs. Amangala Morris Mabel was born on May 8, 1972. She had her primary education at St. Mary’s Primary School, Aggrey Road, Port Harcourt (1977-1982), and her secondary education at the Federal Government College (FGC), Ido-Ani, Ondo State (1982-1988), where she obtained the Primary Leaving Certificate and the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE).
During her secondary education, she served as the Deputy Senior Prefect for two years (1987-1988).
Qs. Amangala Morris Mabel attended the River’s State University of Science and Technology, Nkpolu-Port Harcourt, where she earned a Bachelor of Technology degree in Quantity Surveying (1988-1994).
After graduating, she was self-employed, performing various Quantity Surveying duties until she joined the Bayelsa State Government in February 2000. She worked in the Ministry of Lands and Housing (2000-2004), the Ministry of Special Projects (2004-2007), and was later posted to the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, where she has been working since.
In January 2015, she became the Head of the Department of Quantity Surveying/Building Services Department in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure (MOW&I). She currently serves as the Deputy Director in charge of the Department, handling all manners of Quantity Surveying activities.
Qs. Amangala Morris Mabel has extensive experience in both local and advanced construction management. Some of the major projects she has overseen include:
- Construction of three Secretariat Annexes in Bayelsa State
- Completion of Judges’ Quarters, Opolo, Bayelsa State
- Construction of pavilions across the State and the Local Government
- Construction of Commissioners’ Quarters, Opolo, Yenagoa
- Construction of market stalls at Ofoni Town
- Construction of Police Post, D.P.O’s Residence, and five-unit self-contained apartments for officers at Ofoni Town
- Construction of Legislative Quarters, Onopa, Yenagoa
Qs. Amangala Morris Mabel became a member of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) in April 2011 and was fully registered with the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board (QSRBN) in September 2011.
In the Bayelsa State chapter of NIQS, she has served as the Pioneer Treasurer from the 1st to the 4th Senate (2015-2022) and has significantly contributed to the growth of the chapter. She is also the WAQSN coordinator in the Bayelsa State chapter, conducting enlightenment programs for aspiring Quantity Surveyors.
On 29th November, 2024, she was invested as a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) in Port Harcourt.
Her hobbies include swimming, lawn tennis, and reading.
She is married to Dr. Victor Ozi and blessed with four children.
