Born on June 1, 1973, in Nigeria, Engr. Zibs Godwin Ebikewenimo is a seasoned professional with a remarkable career in mechanical engineering and infrastructural development. His journey is one of dedication, continuous learning, and unwavering commitment to both his profession and his community.

Early Life & Education

Engr. Zibs began his academic journey in Port Harcourt, where he completed his early education before graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious University of Port Harcourt in 1998. It was during these formative years that Engr. Zibs began to cultivate the ideas and philosophies that would shape his career and life’s work.

A Strong Foundation in the Oil & Gas Sector

After graduation, Engr. Zibs embarked on his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year at Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Port Harcourt, where he worked in the Pipeline Department. Here, he received hands-on training in pipeline laying and maintenance, supporting the core project team. His stellar performance led to him being retained by an SPDC contractor firm, Dredging International Services Company Ltd, in 2000, as a Flow Line Engineer. Engr. Zibs was instrumental in the successful laying of 4″, 8″, and 16″ oil and gas pipelines for major projects, including the Echulama I & II SPDC Project. This role allowed him to showcase his technical skills and develop a deep understanding of complex engineering operations in the oil and gas industry.

Pioneering Development in Bayelsa State

In 2001, Engr. Zibs returned to Bayelsa State, where he became an integral part of the Ministry of Works & Infrastructure. As one of the early engineers in the newly created state, he played a key role in the development of critical infrastructure. Starting as a Mechanical Engineer II, Engr. Zibs rose through the ranks due to his exceptional leadership and technical expertise. By 2014, he was appointed Head of the Planning, Research & Statistics Department, and in 2020, he was promoted to Director. During his tenure, he has been involved in some of the most ambitious infrastructural projects in the state, including the Bayelsa State International Airport, contributing significantly to the region’s growth and modernization.

Personal Life & Values

Engr. Zibs is deeply rooted in his Christian faith, serving as a Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). He is a devoted husband and father, blessed with three wonderful children. His strong moral compass, combined with his technical expertise, makes him a role model both in his professional and personal life.

Epunumokumo Dei

Epunumokumo Dei is a practising journalist in the employ of the Bayelsa State Government; he is an information officer in the Bayelsa State Ministry of Information, Orientation and Strategy. However, he is currently serving as the Press Officer of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure. He holds a Masters Degree in English Studies from the University of Port Harcourt.
