The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure has assured the Oweikorogha community that the ASSURED Prosperity Government, led by Senator Douye Diri, is committed to leaving behind an outstanding record of performance through the delivery of people-focused projects.

Commissioner ESV Moses Teibowei made this statement when a delegation from Oweikorogha, a Tarakiri community in Southern Ijaw, paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Yenagoa on Thursday, April 24, 2025. The purpose of their visit was to request the construction of a road to their community via the airport axis.
The Commissioner emphasized that Governor Diri is a people-oriented leader with a “possibility mindset.” He noted that the Governor is undertaking road projects previously deemed unachievable and is simultaneously executing projects across the state to connect communities that were once inaccessible by road.
Teibowei revealed that clearing work for the road to Oporoma has already been completed. He added that the bridge, the spur to Otuan, and the Oporoma road would all be fully completed within the year.
He further explained that many communities are now requesting road access, having seen the commitment and tangible results of the Diri-led administration. However, he stressed that the state government is managing resources prudently to ensure that no project is abandoned once initiated.

In response to the request by the leadership and stakeholders of the Oweikorogha community for an access road, Teibowei assured them that he would relay their message to the Governor. He also stated that surveyors would be sent to the area to determine the most viable and shortest route to connect communities on Wilberforce Island to the airport road.
Earlier in the meeting, the Diaspora Chairman of the Oweikorogha Community, Mr. Temple Igunikeme, praised the Prosperity Government for its extensive development projects across the state. He remarked that Bayelsa has never experienced this level of development, adding that “even the blind can see the Governor’s good works.”
Mr. Igunikeme explained that Oweikorogha is an agrarian Tarakiri community in Southern Ijaw, and as part of the state, they felt compelled to approach the government to benefit from its infrastructural efforts. He appealed for the construction of a motorable road to their community, expressing deep gratitude in advance if their request is granted.
The delegation was led by the Paramount Ruler, HRH Tukuma Amakedi. Other members included the Woman Leader, Chief (Mrs.) Alili Abassa; Sir Centre Berefagha; Engr. James Brass; Mrs. Stella Taribi; Mr. Blessing Embiowei, among others.
